Corrections: Our online BCJ in Corrections is designed to equip students with a practical, career-focused education so they can graduate prepared to pursue a variety of roles in offender management. This program focuses on the relationship of corrections to the broader criminal justice system, as well as the evaluation and treatment of offenders in a range of facilities. Students can expect to gain a solid understanding of legal issues, management, history, social work and counseling as they relate to the criminal justice system, as well as current perspectives on offender reentry, population management strategies, and offender motivation, theory and policy. Potential career opportunities include: correctional officer, parole officer, case manager, reentry coordinator, probation officer, criminal justice planner, grants manager or bailiff.
Homeland Security: Our online BCJ in Homeland Security and Terrorism provides students with a firm grasp of the complexities associated with terrorism, critical infrastructure protection, emergency management, counterintelligence/counterterrorism, homeland security and the law, and covert action/intelligence. Students will hone their critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills through practical applications of criminal justice concepts. Students will also become adept at identifying, assessing and prioritizing threats, risks and vulnerabilities at local, state and national levels. Graduates may go on to pursue such positions as border patrol agent, corrections officer, security administrator, transportation security officer or homeland security analyst.
Law Enforcement: Our online BCJ in Law Enforcement offers students a practical, innovative education in the law, the behavioral sciences and the political process. Learning from faculty with first-hand experience in the field, students will gain a solid understanding of the mission, structure, goals and operations of police agencies at the local, state and federal levels in a democratic society. Students will also understand and appreciate the vital role law enforcement agents play in balancing public order and individual liberty as it relates to the prevention, repression and control of crime in America. Potential job opportunities include: municipal police officer, civil rights investigator, fraud investigator, police program administrator, undercover narcotics officer, state trooper or private security officer.
Justice Administration: Our online BCJ in Justice Administration equips students with a broad understanding of contemporary criminal justice issues, including issues in corrections, law enforcement, violence and aggression, substance abuse and crime analysis. This program includes a research component, in which students will conduct research on a criminal justice agency and have the opportunity to interact with working professionals in the field.
