37 Credit, 18-Month Program

A career in the helping profession of psychology will enable you to regularly apply your gifts of compassion, empathy, understanding and acceptance of the human condition. Tiffin University’s M.S. in Psychology will prepare you for this rewarding career with classes in scientific psychology, research design and analysis and advanced theories of personality. You’ve been gifted as a helping individual. You’ll be trained as a helping professional.

The online Master of Science (MS) in Psychology degree at Tiffin University offers students the opportunity to gain a broad, graduate-level education in the areas of psychology such as developmental psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology and neuropsychology. The program provides students with knowledge of human thought and behavior as well as research and analytic skills that can be applied in a wide range of professional settings.

Graduates of our program will be qualified to teach psychology courses in most community colleges and to pursue a Doctorate in Psychology, if desired. Tiffin University’s master’s degree in psychology focuses on the theoretical and the scientific study of psychology, rather than counseling/clinical psychology. The degree does not lead directly to practice licensure.

Additionally, our M.S. Psychology degree is offered in a convenient and accessible format online. This allows students worldwide and at different stages of life with the opportunity to study graduate-level psychology with minimal interference in their personal and professional lives. Every course in the program is developed and taught by a faculty member with a Ph.D. in the field.

Professional psychology Training
  • The M.S. Psychology degree is a purely online program that can be completed anywhere.
  • There is flexibility to start the program and to take a break as well.
  • The curriculum is dynamic and based on research, writing and discussions.
  • The program’s faculty are scientist-practitioners who bring years of experience in the field.
  • The faculty are excellent resources if you should want to continue on to a terminal degree.

In the Master of Science in Psychology program, you’ll study with knowledgeable professors who bring their real-world experiences in the field into the classroom. Our professors come from the fields of psychology, counseling, substance use treatment and more. They bring a broad mixture of academic, research and service experiences. In addition, many hold licensure in their field and use that practical experience to flesh out and expand lectures.

Ours is a professional program that is kept current and relevant. The degree program is constantly being reviewed by a cohort of professors who engage in professional development such as research, practice and publication/presentation. You and your fellow students will benefit from this ongoing program review as new material is cycled into the curriculum.

a practical, professional education

At the end of your program, you’ll carry away career-ready skills and an in-depth knowledge of the field, including:

  • Developmental psychology
  • History and systems of psychology
  • Legal issues of the profession
  • Neuropsychology
  • Psychopathology
  • Research design and analysis
  • Social psychology
  • Statistical procedures
  • Theories of personality

The Master of Science in Psychology is taught with a practitioner-based focus of bringing knowledge into practice. The program has several experiential-based learning assignments embedded in the curriculum. An example of this is the requirement of students to attend twelve-step programming (solely as a volunteer participant, identifying yourself as such) in their community to see how this model functions. This type of community-based treatment has long been one of the most popular and illuminating projects for students.

bringing knowledge to practice
  • Instant feedback platforms give students the ability to communicate with each other and the professor.
  • Each Master of Science in Psychology course is designed to engage you in written/oral presentation of work and discussion posts to give you a platform to demonstrate data review.
  • An end-of-the-course project asks you to create a “first lecture” PowerPoint that can be used as a guest lecture for interviews in the academy.
  • The program considers the multicultural perspectives of distinctive and dynamic theories, demonstrated in class assignments and discussions that highlight diverse points of view.
